True story about a terrific boy I knew back in the day who’s father was a Wall Street bazillionaire. I would play ball and go sledding with him in the backyard while his father would look on with a look of puzzled amazement that I was having such a good time with his son. Having seen great wealth up close, it gave me a new appreciation for my humble, lower-middle class upbringing.
One great memory of this time in my life was when I told my father how appreciative I was that God gave me a Dad like him who valued family over money, power, comfort, and so-called “security”. The thankful smile and look in his eyes is one I’ll never forget. :-) Mom also remarked that when she was young her and her sisters were jealous of movie stars but that after seeing such wealth up close she no longer envied the rich. Truly, the love of money is the root of all that is wrong with the world today. (1 Tim. 6:10)
Both ballad and uptempo versions were recorded in 1985 on a 4 track cassette recorder.
